I wrote this piece in 1997 after taking a music summer session at the University of Saskatchewan. It is a fantasia on the traditional Welsh melody “All Through the Night”. It contains an introduction, theme and 3 variations on the melody.
“Ar Hyd y Nos” (English: All Through the Night) is a Welsh song sung to a tune that was first recorded in Edward Jones’ “Musical and Poetical Relics of the Welsh Bards” (1784).
You can hear a representation of the piece here on SoundCloud.
